| Nat Lewis is an award winning, nationally known painter and an esteemed fixture in mid-coast Maine art circles, known for its rich water color tradition. She is a graduate of Brown University and has been a passionate and prolific painter for over forty years. Her work hangs in private collections throughout the United States. Lewis says she has always been drawn to the special combination of light in Maine and Maine vintage houses, with their neat and simple architecture. I work with light. The light in Maine differs radically from elsewhere and when it illuminates the clapboards of a vintage house, it never ceases to interest and excite me. There will be a momentary glint of sun within the shadows and as a painter, you have about 12 minutes to catch that moment. |
